*Fall is a great time of year for language growth. Some activities that you can do with your child include:
*Talk about the weather. In the Fall, the weather changes all the time. Talk about what kind of clothing you need when it’s cool, rainy, sunny, hot, windy etc…
*Take a walk on a trail or even around your town. Ask your child if he/she can see any changes in the trees.
Some vocabulary that you can introduce in the Fall includes:
Hay Scarecrow Harvest Wheelbarrow
Gourd Rake Autumn Turkey
Pilgrim Ship Feast Cornucopia
*Fall is a great time to review the names of school items.
*Fall is also a great time to make things with pumpkins and apples. Talk to your child about the different parts of a pumpkin or apple.
*Jack o lanterns are a great way to teach emotions.
I will be working on many of these language skills with your child during his/her scheduled speech session. Make sure to ask your child questions about what was taught.
