• Grouping Criteria for Grades K to 6

     

    Kindergarten – Heterogeneous grouping for all sections.

                Data to be used:  No data available for use.

     

    Grades K to 1 and 1 to 2 – Heterogeneous grouping for all sections.

                Data to be used:  GRADE – GSV score only

                                             End of year Benchmark assessment (Intensive, Strategic, Benchmark)

                                             Report Card scores

                                             Teacher recommendation

     

    Grade 2 to 3 – One accelerated section.  Other sections heterogeneously grouped (with exception made for buildings with System 44)

                Data to be used:

                                            GRADE – GSV score only

                                            GMADE – GSV score only

                                            End of year benchmark assessment (Intensive, Strategic, Benchmark)

                                            Report Card scores

                                            Teacher recommendation

    Number of students in the accelerated section will be determined by the total number of students in the grade being divided by the total number of sections in the grade and then adding 4.

     

    Grade 3 to 4,  4 to 5 and 5 to 6 – One accelerated section.  Other sections heterogeneously grouped (with exception made for buildings with READ 180)

     

                Data to be used:

    PSSA scores – Reading and Math scores only. (Scores from the present      school year used for grade 3 to 4.  Scores from the prior school year used for grades 4 to 5 and 5 to 6.)

    Report card grades from 5 core subjects – Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and English)

    Teacher recommendation

    Number of students in the accelerated section will be determined in the same manner as above.
