      #3. Apply 1:1 Correspondence
Students are able to apply one number to one object.

      Why is this important?
Applying 1:1 Correspondence is a precursor for almost all mathematical concepts. Without this skill, children will struggle with basic math facts. This will help with everyday tasks such as counting money, building with blocks, cooking, baking, etc.

       #4. Establish Order of Irrelevance

      EXAMPLE

      4 Squares

      • Students know without counting how many objects are in a group or set.
      • Students understand there is the same number of objects in a group.
This will happen even when organizing objects differently.
      • Students are able to do these tasks with automaticity.

      Why is this important?

When counting becomes automatic then it has meaning to the child.  Automaticity builds mental math skills.
