My classroom expectations are based on the following principles:
- RESPECT: Everyone who walks into my classroom can expect to be treated with a respectful community where each person will feel a sense of belonging.
- EFFORT: Each student is expected to bring forth their best effort in every task that is presented to them.
- SAFETY: We will have a safe classroom, whether virtually or in person. Each person is expected to respect each other's space and allow them to feel comfortable in our classroom space without fear of prejudice.
- OPENNESS: History and Social Studies courses require debate and discussions on difficult political, economic, religious, societal, intellectual, artistic, and militaristic topics. Each student is expected to respect their classmates' opinions and comments, and debates will focus on the issues and the merits of the answers.
- SERVING AS THE LEARNER: EVERYONE IS EXPECTED TO BE ACTIVE AND ATTENTIVE LEARNERS. Each student is expected to enter the class supplied with the necessary materials for the lessons and ready to contribute to the day's lesson.
- INTEGRITY: I have a zero-tolerance policy regarding cheating. Our classroom is based on academic integrity. If a student is caught cheating or performing a task such as plagiarizing, this will result in a 0% on this assessment.
