• Classroom Procedures for

    Mr. Kulaga's P.E. class

    Students must have sneakers for P.E. class. Sneakers must be tied or laced. No "slip on"shoes  will be accepted for safety reasons. During bad weather sneakers can be put in a back pack  and then changed prior to coming to the gym.

    Medical Excuses: Must be turned into office as soon as possible or in the morning prior to Gym class. If the student has a medical issue, the school must be notified and it will be dealt with properly. Student not feeling well? One written excuse signed and dated by parents must be handed in prior to class and only one will be accepted per quarter without penalty.

    No food, drink or gum is allowed in the gym. Students caught chewing gum will be written up.

    The teacher is not responsible for any valuables left in the Gym. Student should leave these items in the classroom or lockers.
     
    Cell phones must be turned off while in school. Any phone that is on will be turned into the office as per School policy.
     
    Injury: Must be reported to the teacher immediately. Student will be evaluated and if needed will be sent to nurse at that time. Students that wait till the end of class will be sent to their next class.
     
    Participation: Students in school are expected to participate in all P.E. classes. They cannot pick and choose what activities they like. Points will be deducted from their grade for lack of participation.
     
    Spots: Each students will be given a spot on the floor in the beginning of the school year. They are expected to sit in their spot each gym class quietly. Roll will be taken and exercises will be done. Any student wasting time will sit out and points will be taken deducted from their grade.
     
     Students should be quit in the halls coming to and from gym class. Students should not disrupt any of the classes while walking through halls.
     
    Grading: Students will be graded on participation, behavior, sportsmanship and following gym rules. All students are expected to do their exercises correctly, being on time and helping and encouraging others to perform better. 10 points will be awarded each gym class. Points will be deducted for not following directions.
     
     
    Dress appropriate: Students must have sneakers. Don't wear your best clothing on gym days. Good school shirts may be taken off for gym however they must be put back on and tucked in when leaving. Wear a blue shirt under your good shirt to show school spirit. During warm weather, the class may go outside. Bad weather bring your sneakers in back pack and change prior to class.
     
    Classes that misbehave in the school will not be taken outside for P.E.
     
    Special Events: The students participating in Picture day and special events  in the auditorium will be an excused for that day without penalty for the dress code.
     
    Proper behavior is expected throughout the class and year. Consequences for bad behavior are: Warning, Sit out of the gym class, Write the Wild Cat Way, and Written up.
     
    Fire Drills, Lock Downs and Restrictive Movements will be practiced and students are expected to follow them correctly and have extremely good behavior. Safety of all students is a priority during these events.
     
    Whistle means all students should stop immediately and pay attention to the teacher. Students that don't follow directions or don't follow the rules of games or activities will be excluded from the activities and given an alternate exercise program.
     
    Problem with students in or out of school need to be reported immediately.  They can be reported to a teacher, security, adult, parents or office. Walk away! Always report the incident.
     
    Respect Teachers, School, Classmates and Equipment. Students that damage equipment will be written up and sent to office.
     
    Eye Glasses: Students should bring an old
    pair of glasses for gym. Some times students get hit with a ball and glasses can break. Also sport glasses can be purchased for gym activities.
     
    Bathroom breaks or drinks: Students should take care of this prior to coming to class. The gym has no bathrooms. Student need to be sent into the halls which creates a problem. After gym the Homeroom teacher usually give them a break.
     
    Students should never touch another student for any reason. Please report any student not following this policy.
     
    Never leave the gym for any reason. Student leaving without permission will be written up and sent to the office.
     
    No bad language, bad words or actions will be tolerated in the gym or school. Students should talk to other classmates with respect and courteous actions.
     
    Sickness: Students that are sick should stay at home to recover and not to spread germs throughout the school. If students feel they are Ok for school but need extra time to recovery in gym, parents can write a note not to participate in gym that day. One note per quarter.
     
    End of period students will return to assigned spots for cool down. This allows them to calm down before they return to their next class.
     
    No jumping or standing on the bleachers. Damage to the metal brackets underneath can occur.
     
    Some games and activities are fast moving and aggressive and require students to maintain control at all times. If students can not control their tempers and self discipline these games will no longer be played in gym.
     
    The Goal for all Physical Education classes is for all students to be active, participate in every class and to be safe.
