    Classroom Procedures for
    Mrs. Smith
    Reading
     
          The students have a Reading Anthology book (McGraw Hill) a Reading/Language Workshop text book, a Grammar workbook, and a Spelling workbook and a Reading Your Turn book.  The students will have to be responsible with their texts and workbooks.
     
         The children will receive a leveled reader every Friday and have a graphic organizer in their folder to complete.  It is due every Wednesday.  It will be graded as a test grade.  If your child is absent on a Friday, it is the student's responsibility to ask the teacher for the book and the report.  If your child is absent on Wednesday, the child must hand it in on the day of their return to school.
     
         It is important that your child reads every night for 15 minutes.
     
         The Reading textbooks/workbooks will not be sent home.  Many of the activities and lesson will be online.
     
         The children will get weekly assessments, unit assessments, and vocabulary tests.  Please make sure you look at their agenda and their reading/language arts homework folder every night.
     
         THE AGENDA MUST BE CHECKED AND SIGNED EVERY NIGHT!!!!!!!!! 
    • Coach books will also accompany the reading skills in order to prepare the students for the PSSA tests.
    English
    • The children will have to write in a journal everyday.  The journals will be kept in the classroom.
    • The students will have a writing assignment due every Friday.  They will be given the topic the Friday before it is due, it will be stapled in their agenda.  They must have a "rough draft" stapled to the "good copy."  This is a weekly homework assignment.
    • The students will have a project due every quarter, it will be either a research project or a speech.  The guidelines for the project will be stapled in their agenda.
    • English tests will be given when the unit is completed.  An English test will always be given on a Wednesday.  A study guide will be stapled in their agenda.
    • The students will be graded on their daily journal entries, participation, test/quizzes, projects, weekly writing assignments, and homework.
    Spelling
     
          Spelling will be given accordingly with the text/reading story.  Please check your child's agenda for the words.
         Spelling homework will be written in the agenda the Friday before it is due.
