Music In Our Schools Band and Chorus Celebration Information and Permission Forms
Parents & Guardians,
Your student has been invited to participate in one or both of Hazleton Area School District’s Music In Our Schools Month (MIOSM) concerts. The Celebration provides band and chorus students an opportunity to rehearse and perform under the direction of HASD conductors and meet other top student musicians from throughout the district schools, grades 4-8. There will be two Choruses and two Bands at each festival: elementary chorus (grades 4 & 5), middle school chorus (grades 6-8), elementary band (grades 5-6), and middle school band (grades 7 & 8). The MIOSM Celebration will take place on two separate days: Chorus is on Thursday March 13, 2025, and Band is on Tuesday March 18, 2025. Students will be excused and transported by bus from their schools for each celebration. Each festival will conclude with a concert at 7 pm, open to the public.Transportation will be provided to Hazleton Area High School from each of the schools. Students will enter the Natatorium Entrance of HAHS and be directed to the auditorium and then their rehearsal rooms. All participating students must be picked up at HAHS after the concerts that start at 7pm. An adult is required to attend to pick up your student following the end of the concert, if one is not able to attend the concert, please arrange transportation with another participating student/family.
Meals, snacks, and water will be provided for students at the festival. Students will be given a district cafeteria lunch and dinner before the concerts. Students can bring their own snacks, lunch, and/or dinner based on dietary restrictions. The concert dress is black pants or a black dress, black dress shoes (NO CROCS), black socks, and the MIOSM shirt will be given the day of the concert. Students need to wear their concert attire to school, students can change shoes and put their festival shirt on over their clothes before the concert starts. Note that students will NOT be allowed on their phones during rehearsal and must follow district phone policy. If you need to get in contact with your students, please contact them through whatever method their director uses.
Tickets are sold at the door-$6 Adults, $5 Students/Seniors. CASH ONLY! ($1 from each ticket sold helps fund the Jeff Haraschak Memorial Scholarship)

9:00am-Students board buses at their home school
9:30-9:50am-Students report to HAHS Auditorium for check in and review of the day's events
10am-Rehearsal with the conductors
11:15am-Snack/Water/Lavatory Break
11:30am-Rehearsal with the conductors
1:00pm-Lunch Break
1:30pm-HAHS Music Department Mini-Concert for all students
2:00pm-Rehearsal with the conductors
3:15pm-Snack/Water/Lavatory Break
3:30pm-Rehearsal with the conductors
4:30pm-Dinner and distribution of pins
5:30pm-Students have time to change into concert dress clothes/t-shirts
5:45pm-Final run through/sound check in the auditorium
6:45pm-Opening chorus or band takes the stage/other band groups sit in the auditorium to watch
7:00pm-Concert
- Parent/Guardians must provide transportation home after the concert.
- Concerts are open to the public with admission tickets sold at the door: $6 for adults, $5 for students/senior citizens CASH ONLY!!!
