    Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship - Juniors & Seniors continuing their education - essay required

    AES Engineering Scholarship –  Students do NOT have to be taking Engineering courses to apply.  Write an essay on one of the posted questions. October deadline

    AFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness - Submit an autobiography/essay on who Alzheimer's impacted your life, what you've learned in coping with it, and be a US citizen/permanent resident entering a 4-year accredited college within 12 months of application deadline.  February deadline

    American Planning Association - For students enrolling a degree program in planning (ex. urban planning, sustainable planning) or a closely related field.  The essay contest is for JUNIORS and SENIORS only.

    American Society of Highway Engineers’ Robert L. Brown Memorial Scholarship – High School seniors in Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Monroe, and Schuylkill counties, enrolling (or accepted) in a program leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil and Construction Engineering Technology.   For eligibility requirements, application, and guidance recommendation form, contact:  Mr. Andrew Stasek, ASHE Scholarship Committee, 241 W.     Big 33 Scholarship – PA & OH seniors with a 2.0 cumulative GPA (on 4.0 scale) for grades 10 & 11 planning to attend an accredited institution of higher education or technical school.  February deadline

    Bloomsburg University's Fred G. Smith Golden Rule Scholarship - Smith's only wish was that each scholarship recipient remember a prayer provided with the application.  For senior or graduate students of Nativity, Marian, Mount Carmel, North Schuylkill, Lourdes, and Shenandoah Valley High Schools accepted and enrolling full-time at Bloomsburg University.  Students must be residents of Ashland, Mount Carmel, or Shenandoah Boroughs or Mount Carmel Township.  You must be nominated by your principal or guidance counselor, submit a copy of your Bloomsburg acceptance letter, file the FAFSA by Feb 16, and submit application to BU by March 1.  See your high school guidance counselor for details.

    Castle Ink's Green Scholarship - US citizen or permanent resident, minimum 2.5 GPA high school students who support recycling and are committed to green causes. Providing students, who are committed to making our environment healthier, with financial support for college is the impetus behind the scholarship. Students who are pursuing a higher education can win a $2,500 scholarship for college.  December deadline

    Major General James Ursano Scholarship Fund –The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program is a need based scholarship program established to assist children of Army Soldiers in obtaining a 4-year undergraduate degree. Applicants must apply each year and may receive assistance for up to four academic years.

    McKelvey Foundation Scholarship - CHECK IF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL PARTICIPATES. Awards 125 scholarships to high school seniors who’d be the first in their families to attend college. Dedicated and involved students whose resources may be limited, but whose ambitions are not.  Must attend a 4 year college in PA. (May not be currently available due to funding issues.)

    Pennsylvania State Sportsmen's Association of Elysburg, PA - Seniors who have worked for PSSA are eligible for the William L. Shutt Memorial Scholarship.

    Peterson's Student Edge - Each time you log in to StudentEdge to plan for college during certain promotions (keep checking the site for promotion times), you receive another entry into scholarship sweepstakes (with a limit of one entry per day). The potential prize winner is determined by a random drawing so the more entries (log ins) you have, the greater your chance of winning.

    Pfizer's Epilepsy Scholarship - $2000 scholarship honoring outstanding students who have overcome the challenges of epilepsy, been successful in school, done well in activities outside the classroom or in the community, and shown a desire to make the most out of college or graduate school.  Deadline in June.

    Presidential Freedom Scholarships  - Learn and Serve America provides Presidential recognition and a $1,000 college scholarship to high school juniors and seniors for their leadership in community service. The Corporation provides $500 which must be matched with at least $500 secured by the high school from the community. Students must complete at least 100 hours of community service to be eligible for the scholarship. Up to 6,500 scholarships are available. The postmark deadline for submission is in May.     Robert C. Edwards Scholarship – Applicant must be from a Borough which is a member of the six districts of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB), be accepted for admission to an accredited college, university, or school offering a 2 or 4 year degree/certificate program, and attach a picture that may be used for publicity (will not be returned).   Robert C.     Ryan Paul Stankavage Scholarship - Shenandoah Valley graduating high school with a GPA of 3.0 or better, must have played 2 seasons of Shenandoah Youth Soccer (ages 6-14), and plan to enroll in college or technical/trade school.  March deadline

    Sam Walton COMMUNITY Scholarship –  Usually available in November

    Schering-Plough Will To Win Asthma Scholarship Program - US citizens accepted to an accredited US college for the fall semester with asthma and excellence in one of the following:  performing arts, community service, athletics, visual arts, or science.  GPA minimum 3.5 with at least one award related to their entry category.

    Society of American Travel Writers Scholarship - Applicants must be ages 13-18 and attending grades 8-12 as of May. The travel experience you write about must have occurred within the last three years.  August deadline

    South Schuylkill Garden Club Scholarship – Schuylkill County High School or College student and resident of Schuylkill County who plans to further education in horticulture, floriculture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management and/or allied subjects.  Student must have received or is awaiting acceptance to university of his/her choice.  University ID# required.   Application due in March.  Contact:  Nancy C.     United Steelworkers Scholarship Program in memory of Hugh Carcella – Click on Scholarship link.  4 year renewable scholarship for a member in good standing or the son, daughter, or legal ward of a member of a United Steelworkers, District 10 (Eastern) local union OR the son/daughter/legal ward of a disabled or old age retiree or deceased member of an affiliated local union who was in good standing with the United Steelworkers at the time of disability/retirement/death.  Applicants must be a graduating senior attending an accredited 4 year college (or 2 year/community college transfer program to a 4 year college) within the United States or Canada.  Grades, college entrance exams (SAT/ACT), other information supplied by the high school, and conduct in interviews are considered.    More information and an application can be obtained from participating local unions.  Submit application (with proper signature of President and Recording Secretary of the respective local union) t  Scholarship Fund Committee, United Steelworkers, 2460 Boulevard of the Generals, Norristown, PA  19403.  Due March.

    University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academyformerly the Pennsylvania Governor's School for Health Care, is a 4 week program held in June and July for 110 students who are interested in learning more about health care and health care careers. The program focuses on exposing students to the health care delivery system, learning about the variety of careers available in the field of health care, understanding current issues in health care, and incorporating what they learn in a medical profession.  Students may only apply during their SOPHOMORE or JUNIOR year of high school.

    Unmet Need Scholarship - Open to families with a combined income of $30,000 or less, this program is intended to supplement financial aid packages that fall more than $1,000 short of students’ financial needs. This scholarship is not designed as a substitute for aid provided by an institution. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident accepted or enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions, minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and demonstrate financial need.     Ventures Scholars Program - A national resource that helps increase the number of underrepresented and first-generation college-bound students who pursue math, science and technology education, and, ultimately, careers in related professions. Starting in high school, students who excel (particularly in standardized testing) are invited to become Ventures Scholars and are offered a range of free services to help them better connect to enrichment programs, scholarships, internships and other resources.

    Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Military Scholarship – Deadline: Postmarked by December 31

    Violet Richardson Award Program - Women ages 14-17 who make the community and world a better place through volunteering.  January deadline

    Washington Crossing Foundation - For students planning a career in government service.  Short essay on inspiration from leadership of George Washington in his famous crossing of the Delaware.  April deadline

    Wendy's High School Heisman Program - Recognizes the nation's most esteemed high school senior men and women for excellence in academics (at least a B average), athletics, and leadership.  Apply before October.

    William A. Koons, Joseph A. Koons, and John Koons Scholarship Fund - Renewable, need-based scholarship preference given to Shenandoah residents who are of Lithuanian descent and enrolled in The College of Arts and Sciences (no computer science fields) at University of Scranton.  Submit typed essay with heading "The William A. Koons, Joseph A.     The Women’s Regional Business Council (WRBC) has launched a scholarship program to help young women who aspire to be business leaders. Awards include $1,000 cash toward college costs.
