Pinch Pot Animals- Ceramic Project #2
Students learned how to make pinch pots while making the Minion Project, so this project is to reinforce some of those aspects at a higher level of thinking. Students will come up with an animal idea using 3 or more pinch pots to make up the animals body and head, etc. Students first draw a rough idea of what animal they would like to create, and then I help them figure out where their pinch pots would be placed and combined. Students most also understand that when combining pinch pots, one most allow air to escape from the form or it could break in the kiln. Students most then add a hole in any enclosed piece of clay.Students will then add features of the animals and details to make them look more realistic. Students will us the coil method or slab method of adding clay to their animal. The have used both these techniques during their minions, so this will be a review on how things are created using clay.In the end, students will get to glaze their animals when completed. The students will also write a short self reflection on which ceramic project they feel had a better outcome and their overall experience with clay.Pinch Pot Animals Ceramic Project #2
