Documentation Information
For an inital evaluation, if it cannot be completed due to insufficient data, then a NOREP needs to be issued. The NOREP should indicate why this is being done and that a new Permission to Evaluate will be conducted upon the school reopening.
For reevaluations, it is okay to have documented verbal consent, as long as there is no new testing being administered. To the extent possible, we should confirm that consent via email. For RRs that require testing, do the RR without the new testing and then indicate in the recommendations section that “Due to the mandatory school closures resulting from the global Covid-19 pandemic, additional assessments were not able to be collected for inclusion in this re-evaluation. As a result, a new Permission to Re-Evaluate will be issued upon the reopening of schools.”For the IEP in the other section on page one and in the present levels if you do not have updated testing, you should put "Due to the mandatory school closures resulting from the global Covid-19 pandemic, updated (enter what was not able to be completed) was not able to be collected for inclusion in this IEP. As a result, the IEP will be revised upon the reopening of schools.”
For IEP goals, if you have collected data for baselines, then it should be included. If you have that, then there should be ending points as well. If not, then draft generic goals regarding the skill deficit area and include the following language in the same section the goal was typed in. “Due to the mandatory school closures resulting from the global Covid-19 pandemic, baseline data was not able to be collected for inclusion in this IEP. As a result, the IEP will be revised upon the reopening of schools.”
General Information
Invitations can be completed and emailed to the team. All team members should attend the meetings. If you are having trouble getting a regular education teacher or any member for that matter, please let me know and either myself or a special education supervisor will contact the participant or principal to ensure participation.IEP meetings can be held over the phone or using Zoom. For the signature page in the IEP, you can indicate participation by writing participated by phone or participated by zoom conference for each person that attends the meeting. If for some reason a required participate cannot attend and you already let me or a supervisor know, please make contact with the parent to get approval of that participant not attending. If they are okay with it, please complete an excusal form like you usually would. Since we cannot get a signature, enter the approval from the parent into the parent contact log. Something as simple as the parent approved the excusal of ____ on 3/30 over the phone. The NOREP can be completed as it normally would be.Please finalize all documents and do not wait for signatures. For any document that you need approval/signature on, please get that approval verbally and explain it in the contact log. All documents will need to be revisited/revised when school is back in session and that is when you can get all of the signatures.
